Biography
H. Claude Pissarro, recognized as one of the leading 20th century French Impressionists, was born in Brittany in 1935. His richly painted canvases, punctuated with small-scale figures and solidly constructed buildings, are a reminder of his debt to his grandfather and teacher, Camille Pissarro. He developed his own unique style, however by achieving a fulfillment of the pure Impressionist who seeks to render his scenes through lush pastel colors silhouetted against rich backgrounds and colorful skies. By building his canvases with layer upon layer of color, he achieves an unusual woven effect which runs across the entire canvas and creates a textured surface with strong visual impact. Pissarro’s works are now sought after by major museums and galleries. He is under the patronage of Prince Rainier of Monaco. Additionally, a new museum in Fountainbleu is now planned solely to Pissarro's work.
