ExploreArt: Discussion of MOMA exhibition "The Forever Now: Contemporary Painting in an Atemporal World" April 8th, 12:30pm.
On April 8th at 12:30pm, C. Parker Gallery will host Dr. Jessica Winston as she guides her audience through the show The Forever Now: Contemporary Painting in an Atemporal World, currently at the Museum of Modern Art. We will examine the central premise of the show - how artists create in an age when the past is equally present; and discuss how to navigate the contemporary art market.
The discussion will incorporate works created by some of the seventeen artists represented in the exhibition. We will examine both the relationship of the works to art history, and to our own time. The conversation will explore such ideas as how are we to understand such malleable ties and make sense of the dizzying array of cultural artifacts.
This is the second discussion in the “Explore Art” series, a collaboration between C. Parker Gallery and ArtViewNewYork for art lovers, collectors, art novices and young families to explore and connect with the art world. These complimentary discussions will be hosted at the gallery and all are welcome.
The MOMA exhibition is on display until April 5th. If you would like to arrange a private tour prior to this discussion or sign up to receive information on future discussions, please click here: ExploreArt.
